Classic dance

The origins of Classical Dance date back to the Renaissance period, a stage in which dance masters introduced it to the European courts and over time it entered the stage as a totally independent art. It is characterized by the use of pointe shoes for the dancer to give a sensation of lightness and weightlessness. There are different schools depending on the place where they take place (Italian school, French school, Danish school, American school, Russian school, Cuban school) but they all have a common technical base with a determined coding of the steps.

At the Higher Conservatory of Dance of Alicante, the subject Classical Style Dance Techniques is complemented by a weekly session on contemporary dance technique.
